We started our day with a trip to the Space Needle. We were among the first to arrive and it was not very crowded. It was a cloudy day, so we could not see the mountains off in the distance, but it was still really cool and we all enjoyed it. We took lots of pictures and did a few rotations standing on the revolving glass floor.

I thought it was pretty scary to lean back against the glass, but no one else had any issues. |
|
Thomas was a little nervous about the glass floors, but he did it! |
|
Kara was the only one who didn't want to stand (or sit) on the revolving glass floor. Jack was also pretty reluctant. |
After the Space Needle, we went to the Museum of Pop Culture. It is a cool museum with some impressive exhibits. I think everyone's favorite was the sound lab, where you got to try out keyboards, drums, and guitars. There was also an exhibit called the Power of Pop Culture, which I enjoyed. But, other than that, for me, it just wasn't my taste. I think Jack enjoyed it most--they had a Fantasy exhibit that had some Lord of the Rings stuff and a guitar exhibit, both match his interests.

Original costumes from the Wizard of Oz. |

Jack could identify all the weapons without reading the cards. |

This photo wall was my favorite |

Too bad his Princess is in another castle. |

The Sound Lab was pretty fun. |
After that, we stopped at a Subway for a late lunch and then went to the REI flagship store. It is built into the landscape and to get inside you walk a wooded path, complete with a waterfall. It was huge inside with fun displays. I am not sure it was worth walking the extra two miles (one there and one back), but it was fun to see. Although, we did get to check out an Amazon Go store, which was pretty fun. We logged in on the Amazon app, got a QR code that we used to scan into the store. We picked out what we wanted (some batteries and cookies) and then left, without a traditional check-out process. Somehow it knew what we bought and charged us the correct price. Pretty amazing!
From there, we went to the first Starbucks and then walked around more of Pike's Place Market. They had some fun stuff in the market and it was a little more kitschy than I expected (in a good way). Thomas, Jack and Kara really loved it. Luke didn't like it and Anna thought it was hot and smelled bad. I liked it, but agreed it was kind of hot inside and I was feeling pretty tired. I did really love all the flowers and if I were local, I would definitely have bought a bunch. From there, we went to Target to pick up a few things, then headed back to the rental.

Jack and Kara are pretty small compared to the World's tallest man. We could have paid a quarter to see his shoes, but I didn't have one. |
We rested for a couple of hours and then went to the Mariners game. It was a great game. They were playing the Astros and were down for most of the game. Then, they went ahead in the 8th and won! The crowd was very excited. It was a value game, so our tickets were only $10, but we made up for that in refreshments. At one point, Luke was dancing to the music and Anna commented to him that she didn't know why he was dancing as he wasn't going to get featured on the scoreboard since our seats were so high up. Minutes later, there he was--on the scoreboard! Unfortunately, it didn't last long enough for me to get a picture, but it was pretty awesome for two reasons. One, he got to be on the scoreboard at a Mariner's game! Two, it was fun to prove Anna wrong :) The only downside to the night was that it was really cold. I wore jogging pants and my legs were freezing. It got better when the sun went down and it wasn't windy. I am surprised at how cold Seattle is in late May. It was in the 40s by the end of the game. Of course, that didn't stop us from buying ice cream :)
