June Happenings

Why not both? Frozen and cold.
On Friday, June 5th, Anna and I went to Orlando Informer (OI) night. Basically, OI buys out Universal and sells a very limited number of tickets. The rides all have super short wait times and the food is included. The event officially starts when the park closes and, on our night, it went from 7pm-1230. Anna and I got there a bit early and used our express after 4 to ride Hagrid’s. I think we rode a couple of other things waiting for the park to close and the free food to begin. Once it did, we got dinner. Then, we worked our way around both parks. We rode all our favorites without any wait, well we did wait about 25 minutes for Hagrid’s (any night with two rides on Hagrid’s is bound to be amazing!). We were the only people in the entire car on Mummy and it was so weirdly quiet. And, we did Trolly in the Sky and they ran it on both tracks. We drank all the types of butterbeer: hot, cold, regular and frozen (my favorite is hot, Anna prefers frozen, but was surprised at how much she liked the regular). And, we tried so many different foods. Our favorite was a meatloaf slider on a pretzel bun. The banana popcorn in Minions land was also surprisingly good. Anna had butterbeer ice cream and honestly I can’t remember what else, although I know we got some Cinnabon and brought it home. It was a very fun night!

On Saturday, we had a small graduation party for Jack and Anna. It was just family (Kim, Dave, Amanda, Kevin, Marta and Frank). We didn’t send out graduation notices or invitations, so don’t feel left out for not getting one. 😊 It was fun to celebrate Jack and Anna. Anna opened up a time capsule she made in the 4th grade. The funniest content was her old retainer. 4th grade Anna was cracking us up!

Sunday, we went to the 34 Club for a Flying Tigers game. We had a good time and the Flying Tigers won (they had been on a losing streak, so this was a nice surprise)!

Anna and I visited my dad. My sister and I are trying to gather everything we need for his Medicaid trust application. I have a power of attorney, but he put some of his assets into a different trust, which means our power of attorney isn’t always accepted and it has made things more complicated. I think we have just about everything he needs now. I will be relieved when this process is complete. On the bright side, it is teaching both Kim and I some life lessons for when we get older, which will hopefully save our families some of these headaches.

In other news, Luke’s team played in a 5-day tournament from the 10th-14th. It was 45-minutes away from us at Space Coast Stadium, but there were teams from all over the country. Sometimes, it is nice to live in a vacation destination! His team ended up finishing in 3rd place (for the AA teams). Luke pitched an entire game (which they won) and batted well.
Kara has gone to the beach a few times. She and Anna also went to Hollywood Studios one morning. Having Kara drive has been great for both girls. Today (June 18) she drove one of her friends along with Anna and one of Anna’s friends to Cocoa Beach. Luke opted to stay home.

Jack has been soaking in as much time with us and his friends as possible. Today, Thomas took him up to FSU to drop him off for the summer term. Fortunately, it is only 6 weeks and we have a bus ticket for him to come home for 4th of July weekend, so I am able to maintain my air of denial for a bit longer. We are hoping the shorter, less crowded term will give him an opportunity to ease into college life.
