Mid-June to Mid-July

Classes have been going well for Jack. He is more than halfway through the summer term. He likes his roommate and got lucky in that they are similar in the hours they keep. Jack had a few extra days off for Independence Day so he came home for a long weekend. Thomas went and picked him (over 8 hours round trip) and then he took a bus back. The bus is convenient, but Thomas doesn’t mind driving up as he says he enjoys the extra time with Jack. We enjoyed having him home. We mostly stayed at home, but did go to a Flying Tigers game.

Anna is doing driving lessons and we are pretty confident she will get her license before classes start at Valencia next month. She is still job hunting but may broaden her search now that her license is in sight. She has been hanging out with friends and helping keep Luke busy, they go in the pool almost every day.

Kara is busy, busy, busy. She still works at Wawa (just one or two days a week), but she has also been house/pet sitting and babysitting. She does some thing with her friends almost every day. She has also been studying for the ACT. She took it on Saturday, July 11th. She scored above the 90th percentile, which is enough for a 100% tuition scholarship at any Florida college (Bright Futures), but she thinks she can do even better, so she is planning to take it again in September before she finalizes college applications. She was playing lacrosse, but the summer season wrapped up a couple of week ago. Although, she is still doing private lessons with the coach once a week.

Luke’s summer has been mostly baseball. Thomas and he are on their way to Cooperstown right now, and the team has been gearing up for this tournament all summer. It is a tradition for teams from around the country (even Hawaii!) to go to Cooperstown, NY when they are 12. Cooperstown is where the Baseball Hall of Fame is located and was once thought to be where baseball was invented (I think that has been debunked). I have no idea how his team will do, there are 100 teams every week and I am going to guess they will be seeded somewhere between 40-60. Thomas is going as a chaperone/coach, so he will be staying in the bunkhouse with the kids. Should be a fun week for the two of them.

My summer has been quiet. Work is pretty slow. Although, I think it is picking up again. A lot of people take time off in early July. We had a fun night at Epcot last week and got my favorite Guardians of the Galaxy song (Everybody Wants to Rule the World). Thomas, Luke and Anna went to Magic Kingdom one Saturday (Kara and I were at her lacrosse tournament). Thomas has been with Luke at all the baseball, so his summer has been busier.

I have very few pictures from the last month and Thomas isn't home for me to check his phone, but here are the few I do have:

At a Flying Tigers game. Kara nnd her friend Juliet made it onto the scoreboard (more than once actually)

Thomas sent me this picture from his drive to NY. He and Luke made a detour to Buchanan and the bridge where Thomas proposed.

Anna and I made our traditional flag cake on July 4th

They got stranded on the People Mover
